These are some of the gravestones I took pictures of in April 2009 of cemeteries my family and I visited in Kanawha, Calhoun, and Nicholas Counties, West Virginia. They are mostly Bailey stones, but I have included a few that pertain to my line of the Baileys and Shaffers. Some have both husband and wife names on them. These are from Upper and Lower Fink cemeteries in Milo, West Virginia, Tyler Mountain Memorial Park, Dunbar cemetery and Withrow cemetery in Charleston, West Virginia and Richwood cemetery in Richwood, West Virginia.

Below are directions  to Upper Fink, and Lower Fink cemeteries and the site where Mike Fink and an unknown Indian killed each other. The two were buried where they were killed.

From Interstate 64 in West Virginia, take exit 40 north on Route 16 towards Minnora. Go through town until you see the Historical marker for Mike Fink. Turn left on Milo road (Route 13). Go approximately 1 mile to Mike Fink Cemetery on left. Keep going for .8 miles to Upper Fink Cemetery on right side of road.  After visiting there, go .6 miles to Beech Road (fork in road, red barn on right). Gravel hill and road go up beside red barn. Make sure you contact the landowner  (house across the road owned by a Loris Bailey Jarvis, as of April 2009)before proceeding up the hill.

Arnold Leo Kidd and Rachel Ann Shaffer Kidd, my Great Aunt and Uncle, are buried at Tyler Mountain Memorial Gardens in Charleston, West Virginia. To get there you take Goff Mountain Road off I-64. Go north to Rocky Road. Take it towards Sissonville, park will be on right. Go to the mausoleums at the top of the hill. Their crypts are to the far right on the east side of that building. Once on that side, they are at the top, exactly in the middle of the wall.

To get to Pauline Cole Haynes Shaffer Dunbar's grave, my maternal grandmother, take I-64 to Roxelena Road. Proceed north to Lower Midway Road. Turn left, go to left at fork in the road, cemetery is on the right.

To get to my grandfather, great-grandfather and great-grandmothers, Ralph Harry Shaffer and his parents Nicholas and Louise Shaffer Holbart's graves, take I-64 to Greenbrier Street exit. Proceed northeast to Airport Drive on left. Take a left at the fork to Keystone Drive, cemetery is hidden between two houses at 357 Keystone Drive.

To get there, follow Route 19 off I-64 south to Summersville, West Virginia. Turn left or East on Route 55. Follow Route 55 to Richwood. Before going into town look for cemetery sign on left and cautiously proceed to make hairpin turn into cemetery.

After entering cemetery, take first road to the right. at next road go right to third pine tree (as of April 2009). Bailey family plot is straight uphill from third pine tree.

General Cyrus Bailey is said to be buried on this hill in Richwood Cemetery, along with Virgil and Basil Bailey, who were infants at the time of their deaths, but we were unable to locate any gravestones.
